Few things are so associated with Sweden as our dalahorse, the one that originated in Mora. It was in the 18th century that the forest workers in the villages around Mora began carving wooden horses in log cabins in the evenings. Much later, in the 1830s, the horses got their characteristic kurbits pattern. They were eventually sold in the villages and travelled with travellers around Sweden.
