Description

Elegant kerosene lamp in clear fluted glass with a antique brass coloured burner. One wick is included. Lamp oil is sold separately. We recommend our own lamp oil for this lamp.

Please do note that you may have to adjust the glass in order to get it straight. When the glass is straight, use the metal clamps on the burner to stabilise it.

Kerosene lamps were the most common variety of lamps in Sweden in the late 1800s and the early 1900s. Our kerosene lamps are produced with the purpose of adding light sources in places where there is no electricity, such as small boats, cottages and balconies/gardens. However, they are also just pretty to keep on your kitchen table for a cosy feeling. Kerosene lamps are also useful at times of power failure since they allow for a very strong light.

Kerosene lamps are recommended to keep at home, at time of an eventual crisis.

To fill with lamp oil and light the lamp:

The kerosene lamp must be off and cold when filling.

- Remove the burner tube and unscrew the burner.
- Fill in lamp oil, about 2/3 of the container. Feel free to use a funnel for less spillage.
- Screw the burner back on and let the wick soak for 20-30 minutes so that the wick becomes wet.
- Light the lamp and adjust the flame so that it is not too high by turning the wick up or down
- Put the burner tube back

Note! The burner tube may need to be adjusted to be straight. When the glass is straight, the metal clamps on the burner are used to stabilize.

To turn off the lamp:
Extinguish the kerosene lamp by blowing out the flame or screwing down the wick.

Change the wick:
The old wick is pulled out from below and the new one is inserted from below and screwed up to the correct height.

To think of:
When the lamp is on, the burner tube is very hot. Place the lamp on a flat surface and not near combustible material. Also leave free space above the lamp, at least 1 meter.

The lamp is a primary light source and not a decoration, keep the lamp under supervision and out of reach of children and pets. Lamp oil is very toxic to ingest. In case of ingestion, even very small amounts or by sucking on the wick, DO NOT induce vomiting but contact the Gitf information center and a doctor.
