Article: Why Blåbär?
Why Blåbär?
So what does Blåbär, pronounced [blawbair] really mean?
It is in short a berry. In English the name is Bilberry, which is closely related to the Blueberry. Crazy as it sounds almost a fifth of Sweden is covered by it.
Culturally it has taken on another meaning: a novice, and a rookie. it is this part which we are identifying with - bear with us.
Its origins comes from the Swedish annual skiing marathon Vasa Loppet, where since the 60’s Blåbär soup has been given out to contestants (the original energy drink). Those who crossed the line towards the end were said to have taken too many refreshment stops on route with some of the soup missing target, and thus they crossed the line looking like blueberries.
We are cheering on these stragglers, dare to try new experiences and not rush through life towards the finishing line.
Remember to enjoy the journey and live a life more Nordic.
